AQUARIUM

Today's Hydrobiological Station was
built at the Cape of Mili, at the nortwest site in Rhodes'
Island, during the period 1934 - 1936 and it started operating
as the "Reale Istituto di Ricerche Biologiche di Rodi" in 1937.
In the period 1945 - 1963 it
continued as a marginal station of the Greek Hydrobiological
Institute superrvised by the Academy of Athnes.
Since 1963 the "Hydrobiological
Station of Rhodes" (H.S.R.) operates as a research unit and an
Aquarium - Museum of the Hellenic Centre for the Marine Research
(H.C.M.R.).
H.C.M.R. is supervised by the
General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Ministry
of Development and it's research activities concern
Oceanography, Aquaculture, Marine Biological Resources, Inland
Waters, Marine Biology and Genetics !
